Presented by BioUtah, the Intermountain Chapter of the U.S. Mexico Chamber of Commerce and Zions Bank, this breakfast meeting features Mr. Juan Luis Serrano-Leets, an international attorney who resides in Mexico City and who has a wealth of experience in the U.S. and Mexico in assisting medical device, biotech, pharma and nutraceutical companies with every imaginable legal, regulatory and commercial issue in successfully doing business in Mexico. Also featured is Saul De los Santos, CEO of AXIS – Strategic Intelligence Center, a private firm located in Tijuana, Mexico and Instituto AXIS, a specialized business unit focused on industrial training. Mr. Santos is highly experienced in both research and development in the life sciences and medical device industries.

Mr. Serrano-Leets is the co-head of the Life Sciences Industry Group and head of the intellectual property and privacy groups of Sánchez Devanny, a leading Mexican law firm that provides full-service legal advice both to Mexican and international clients. He has more than 16 years of experience advising multinational companies on intellectual property and regulatory matters with a strong focus on the life sciences space. He has broad experience in high-level management of complex legal and policy issues in Mexico and Latin America. Before joining Sánchez Devanny, he was the legal director for the Mexican division of the multinational pharmaceutical laboratory AstraZeneca, where he provided high level advisory on a wide array of legal issues, including intellectual property and data privacy. Serrano-Leets was also the vice-president of intellectual property at AMIIF (The Pharmaceutical Innovation Industry Association in Mexico). He is fluent in English and Spanish.
Mr. Santos is founder and CEO of AXIS – Strategic Intelligence Center, a private firm located in Tijuana, Mexico and Instituto AXIS, a specialized business unit focused on industrial training. He has a master's degree in engineering with a specialization in quality and productivity from ITESM and an MBA degree with specialization in public administration from CETYS University. He has done extensive research on the life sciences industry, assisting in the creation of Baja California's Medical Devices Cluster, as well as the Mexican national roadmap for this sector.
